Reminders and check-ins are not arriving

The permission plottwist only asks for once, plus the four in-app reasons a check-in stays quiet.

First, the iOS permission

Check iOS Settings > Notifications > plottwist, and make sure Allow Notifications is on.

This is the usual answer. plottwist asks for notification permission once, during setup or on the launch straight afterwards. If you said no then, nothing in the app asks you again, so the switch has to be turned on in iOS Settings.

Then the in-app switches

  • Settings > Notifications > Evening check-in & reminders covers the evening wind-down and the 15 minute heads-up before protected items.
  • Settings > Notifications > Junie keeps me accountable covers the start and finish check-ins.

Then the four reasons a specific check-in stays quiet

  • The task has Junie checks in on this switched off.
  • The task has no time. Untimed tasks in Anytime today have nothing to check in against.
  • The task is in the Work category. Work never gets check-ins.
  • It falls outside your check-in hours. By default nothing schedules before 7am or from 8pm onwards, and you can move both ends in Settings > Notifications.

And one thing that is not a fault

While the app is open in front of you, check-ins appear as cards from Junie rather than as banners. Answering the card cancels the notification, and answering the notification cancels the card. You will never be asked twice.

The full list of what gets sent and when is in every notification plottwist sends.
