Rebuilding a day with the Plot Twist button

What the button does, what it will and will not move, how to approve it, and how to undo it.

The Plot Twist button is the twist mark floating at the bottom right of Today. It rebuilds the day you are currently looking at, which is usually today but does not have to be.

How it goes

1. Tap the button. It asks What happened?. Say it plainly: School called. Sick kid. or Meeting moved to 2. Then tap Rebuild my day.
2. plottwist puts the thing that happened onto your day as a protected item, then works out a new plan around it. Junie explains the change in a sentence, and a second bubble follows a moment later with advice for that particular situation.
3. You get Before and After side by side. Tap anything in the After column that is optional to push it off the day, and tap it again in the Another Day box to bring it back. Items with a padlock will not respond, because they are locked.
4. Choose where pushed items go: Park on Another Day puts them on the Shelf, or Move to Tomorrow puts them on the next day.
5. Check the bar at the bottom. It reads Costs N drops, you have M and turns deep terracotta if the new plan asks for more than your Cup holds.
6. Tap Make it so.

What can and cannot move

Work, protected items, completed items, and calendar appointments are locked and shown with a padlock. Kids, Meal, and Routine are anchors and stay put. Errand, Admin, Me time, Fitness, and Event are the ones a twist offers to move. If there is nothing movable on the day, the button simply reads Add it to my day.

Undoing a twist

Open Plot Twist again on the same day. If a twist has already run, the sheet opens with a card that says A Plot Twist already ran on this day and a Restore my day button. That puts everything back where it was and removes the item the twist added.

If you parked things

They are on the Shelf. At 9am the next morning you get one quiet reminder saying how many are waiting. One reminder, not a daily drumbeat.
