The free trial, the plans, and what a membership covers

Seven days free, then monthly or annual, or a one-time lifetime. Billed by Apple. What you get and what happens if you stop.

plottwist is a membership. Both recurring plans start with a 7 day free trial. After that it is:

Monthly
$8.99
Annual
$59.99

Lifetime

There is also a one-time $99 lifetime option. It is a single payment rather than a subscription, so there is no free trial attached to it and nothing ever renews: you pay once and the membership does not end. It is offered for a limited time and the paywall says the date it goes away.

plottwist launches in the United States only, so those are the prices, in US dollars. The App Store confirms your trial eligibility and the exact amount before you agree to anything.

Apple takes the payment

Apple is the merchant of record: Apple charges you, and Apple handles cancellations and refunds. We never see your card details, and we cannot charge you ourselves. See managing or cancelling for how to do either.

What the membership covers

The app, and in particular Junie's full brain running on our server, which is the part with a real cost behind every message.

If you stop paying

This applies to the monthly and annual plans. Lifetime is a single payment with nothing to stop.

You keep everything until the end of the period you have already paid for. After that plottwist asks you to start a membership before it will open, so you will not be able to reach your day, your Cup, your Ledger, or your Shelf from inside the app.

Your data is not deleted. It stays on your iPhone and in your own iCloud, and starting a membership again brings it all back exactly as you left it. But it is not much use sitting there if you cannot open the app to read it, and we would rather say so than let "it still lives on your phone" sound like more than it is.
