Showing your calendar on your day
How to turn it on, choosing which calendars come in, what arrives, why only today and forward, and why it can never change your calendar.
Turn it on at Settings > Calendar > Keep my calendar in sync. iOS will ask for calendar access. You can also do it during setup, or by asking Junie to pull in your calendar.
Choosing which calendars
By default every calendar on the iPhone comes in. If people share theirs with you, that is rarely what you want: a partner's work shifts and a school calendar land on your day alongside your own.
Settings > Calendar > Which calendars lists them grouped by account, the way the Calendar app does. Untick the ones you would rather not see. Tick them all back on and you are back to everything, which is also what a new install does.
What comes in
- Appointments from the calendars you chose, whether they came from Apple, Google, Outlook, or a subscription.
- Each one arrives costing 1 drop, and protected, so a Plot Twist works around it rather than moving it.
- Each one gets a category from your rules first, then from a keyword guess, and otherwise Event.
- All-day events arrive with no time, in the Anytime today list rather than on the rail.
- An appointment running across several days shows on each of them: the hours it really occupies on the days it starts and ends, and as an all-day item on the days in between.
Today and forward only
Only today and future days sync. Past days are left exactly as they happened, so your history stays your record of the day you actually had rather than the calendar you meant to keep.
Read-only, with no exception
plottwist never creates, moves, or deletes anything in your calendar. There is no code path in the app that can. Drag a synced appointment on your timeline and it will not move; you get a short buzz instead.
The direction of travel is one way. Change an appointment in your calendar app and plottwist picks it up on the next sync, which happens when you switch days, when the app comes back to the front, and whenever iOS says the calendar changed. Delete it from your calendar and it disappears from your day.
Turning it off
Same switch. plottwist asks what to do with the appointments already on your days: take them off, or leave them where they are. Either way nothing new comes in, and nothing happens to your calendar, because nothing ever did.
If you take them off, switching the sync back on brings them back. Removing a single appointment is different: open it and choose Remove from plottwist, and that one stays off until you restore it from Settings > Hidden events.
